This dishwasher was provided by the builder in our new home. I would not recommend this dishwasher. The dishes come out wet even after heat dry. It does not clean the dishes well, and many times have to be rewashed. More settings might have helped. There is no variation in the racks so it is difficult to place dishes of different sizes on the racks. One of our neighbors with the same dishwasher has the same issues.

My husband and I bought a new home, and this dishwasher came with the house. This dishwasher model does not have a place for a rinse aid. Dishwasher does a poor job of cleaning dishes and an even worse job drying the dishes. Do not purchase this dishwasher.

Piece of Junk-Won't Dry Dishes or Dishwasher
Don_H
8/22/2019
This dishwasher came in a brand new house in a brand new neighborhood. Looks like a nice dishwasher, until you use it. I used an all in one detergent in the ONLY dispenser provided. I was surprised when I first opened it up and noticed there was no place to put rinse aid, but didn't think much about it because it had a heat dry mode. I have used it twice. The first time I didn't get to unload the dishes for 2 days. To my surprise, they were still soaking wet and there was a mildew smell.
I read the directions and am told you need to use Rinse Dry to make it work correctly. If you MUST use Rinse Dry , why didn't you put a Rinse Dry dispenser in the machine?? I called my local vendor and they told me same thing. Said I had to go to store and get the Rinse Dry solid basket. Guess what. Only place to buy it is on Amazon for $20.00 for 2. I appears to have been discontinued or in the process of being discontinued.
I have been in my new house for less that a month. I have ordered the expensive Rinse Dry from the ONLY place on the planet that still seems to carry it. This is ONLY to satisfy the dealer so I can maybe get a technician out to tell me what I suspect will be "tough beans".
I have already started to look at new dishwashers, and guess what. Not a one of them will be a Whirlpool. One month is a new house. I should be excited. Just upset to have to be dealing with this type of poor design from what I thought was a good quality company.
I only gave it one star for design and quality because it would't let me leave zero.

Horrible dishwasher
Sassy Mama

I purchased this for my home to replace another Whirlpool dishwasher. Unfortunately I did not read the reviews until after it was purchased and installed. I agree with what others have said, it does a horrible job! Why they even bothered having a "heated dry" option is beyond me because it's a joke!! It doesn't work at all! The dishwasher is soaking wet along with all your dishes. I have to open the door after it's finished to allow some air in to dry the dishes some and then towel dry every single dish as I unload it. Also, it has no rinse aid dispenser. This was an oversight on my end but I wanted to warn any future potential buyers. Actually, my best advice is to purchase ANY other dishwasher besides this one!! The only thing I disagree with others on is it really isn't noisy. We have an open floor plan and can run the dishwasher and it does not disturb us at all. That is the ONLY good thing I can say about this dishwasher!!

It has no place to put jet dry. So my dishes get a film that can get thicker if i don't. Do this
1 wash dishes all the way through.
2 start dishwasher for the 2nd time. What for it to do the dringing part. Then when it starts to fill with water put vinegar in it. Let it run for the 1st two cycle. Then stop dishwasher. Let it drain again.
3 dry my dishes and put them away.
Over all would never have a dishwasher without a place for jrt dry. If you have hard water not worth it. You can't find much to HELP you these day to dispense jrt dry. Not like 10 years ago when dishwasher didn't all or though all had a place for jet dry.
For a product not only cost you $399.00 for it. With not much for cycle choices. Should have come with a place for jet dry. For it not 1980 it 2018 and still have to worry about jet dry not coming with your dishwasher again.
In my experience I'm not saving on water or electricity. Just a waste of money in every time i use it.

Pump unable to fully empty
NetKamm
9/28/2018
I have had 2 of these dishwashers for about a year and they have ALWAYS struggled with emptying the water. I have replaced the pumps 3 times and it continues to not pump all the water out - even with a brand new pump!
The impeller pump runs for approximately 2 minutes during the empty cycle. It takes 3 full empty cycles to fully empty the water. I even pulled the drain tube to see how much water it was able to pump in a single empty cycle ... it is about 1/2 gallon and it doesn't matter how high it has to pump the water it just can't pump water!
Since it can only pump a 1/3 of the water out it always has soapy water in the rinse leaving dishes covered in soapy water... not to mention it can't dry the dishes because the bottom is ALWAYS full of water!!!!

Does not dry, no rinse aid dispenser
KristiNicole
8/16/2018
First I am going to state that I use the stupid cascade platinum pods that have the rinse aid, they do not help at all. Finish no longer sells theirs with the little basket.
Second, if you try to do a "heavy" wash it can literally take over half the day just to wash. The HOT water runs for hours, wasting energy on two major appliances.
Third, no matter what I do, dishes absolutely will not dry in this unit. I have been using it for a month about every other day but some days I ran up to three loads because we were moving into the home and all of our kitchen stuff had been in storage after hurricane Harvey. I have tried heat on, heat off, heavy wash with heat dry, 1 hour wash with heat dry on and off, I have even tried the old "open it as soon as it's done rinsing to let the steam out before the heat dry" trick that has worked on even the oldest most quirky of dishwashers, and doesn't help.
It's either very loud or so quiet I don't know it's on, there is no in between.
I rent so I'm stuck with it, if I owned this house I'd toss this hunk of junkout in the pond in my backyard and get new

Terrible Dishwasher!!
TreeDee
8/16/2018
We live in an apartment complex that just installed a new dishwasher for us. The problem is the dishes and inside of dishwasher are ALWAYS moist with condensation. The dishes never get dry! I would use a rinse aid, however, it doesn't even have a rinse aid dispenser and I can't find the rinse aid baskets anywhere! I feel that the constant moisture is growing bacteria and germs. So frustrating!! Buyer beware because its a terrible dishwasher.

Absolute worst!!
julesski88
6/23/2018
Reading through these reviews just makes me sick. This is the absolute worst machine on the market. Whirlpool is junk now and they know it. I see in one of the reviews they commented and told the customer to use rinse aid...yeah which would be GREAT except this unit is such a piece of junk it doesnt even have a RINSE AID DISPENSER!!! I sell appliances and have literally NEVER seen a dishwasher without a rinse aid dispenser. I honestly dont know why this unit is even an option. What t's me off even more is that the builders who built my home, which are not cheap homes they are all over 200,00, use these pieces of junk in every spec house that is prebuilt and purchased later. I worked in repairs and Whirlpool has the WORST record for units needing repair. And this one doesnt even need service, its just horrible! It honestly makes me very upset that now I am stuck with this very loud, wet piece of junk. We just purchased a new home so no I dont have hundred of dollars to buy every little thing I want because there is still lots of stuff we need before a dishwasher. I would honestly give this unit and whirlpool a 0 rating. STOP BEING SO CHEAP WHIRLPOOL!!!!

I don't like this thing! 2nd worst dishwasher!
DebbieDishwasher9
6/1/2018
Moved into a new apartment and now have this as my dishwasher. This thing doesn't even have a spot to put in rinse aid. I really don't like this thing and am disappointed in its lack of a rinse aid dispenser and a sanitizing rinse option. This thing also has the dinkiest silverware basket on the planet! I can barely fit my silverware in there. It's very loud and almost reminds me of a boat motor. This is indeed a bare bones dishwasher. Very sad to be without.
Hooray for super slow drying dishes and spots! (-sarcasm-)
I'm terrified to use heated settings because of what I've seen done to dishes in the past that were labeled dishwasher safe but were practically eaten alive by the dishwasher.
From reading reviews, I'm now supposed to buy specific pods to put in this that include the rinse aid --- Any recommendations?

Whirlpool should look at apartment dwellers as future customers, when it comes time for that customer to purchase his/hers new home. First impressions are lasting impressions. Because of my experience with this new Whirlpool in my apartment, I'm now less likely to buy one, when I move into my new home.

My old GE dishwasher kept leaking so my apt replaced it with a new Whirlpool. I was excited because I had all Whirlpool in my house when I owned back in Seattle. Until i found out there's no rinse aid dispenser. And I had just bought a new bottle of Cascade too. I've also had to send loads through a second cycle; some dishes don't come out quite clean. So buyer beware.

This came with our new house and we thought it would be fine so we didn't upgrade it. It does a good job of cleaning the dishes, but leaves them dry and spotty. Extremely disappointed there is no place to put a rinse aid. Love whirlpool, but really dropped the ball on that feature. Wouldn't recommend because most people use a rinse aid. I have never seen a dishwasher that doesn't have one, even a basic one like this. It gets the job done... but makes have to take the time to dry the dishes after they are clean even though that's the dishwashers job.
